Ve 13. století se Tibeťan Göšangpa pohroužil do meditací v jeskyni v horní části hemiské rokle, několik set metrů nad místem dnešního hlavního kláštera. Místo se tradičně nazývá poustevna, dnes malý klášter Gotsang s gönpičkou kolem jeskyně. Gotsangpa znamená supí nebo orlí hnízdo, poustevna se nacházela v místě, kde tito ptáci hnízdili. Strop gönpy je zčernalý od stále hořících svící a polepený bankovkami a mincemi. Lze tak prý získat přízeň světců a zbohatnout. V současnosti spadá gompa do správy 3 km vzdáleného kláštera Hemis. Leží ve výšce 3900 m.n.m. a je dostupná pouze pěšky.

Osm dobrovolníků pomáhalo po dobu jedno týdne při stavbě mani zdi a opravě přístupové stezky ke klášteru.
2007
Šest dobrovolníků pokračovalo ve stavbě mani zdi.
